Edname / soya beans
« on: September 11, 2013, 09:56 »
The leaves have fallen from the plants and the pods are turning brown. Think I need to cook the beans before I freeze them, is that right? If so, how long do they need cooking for? Don't wish to keep them as dried beans as I have enough of those from other types of beans, and love edname beans in risottos.

You've left it a bit late for edamame beans. The pods should be picked when still bright green and the leaves only just start turning yellow. At that time, pick pods, wash well, blanch for about 2 minutes and freeze.

Yours will be past it for 'green' beans so you'll be fully drying them.

Thanks. More dried beans then!
