Title: Stored dried beans
Post by: Plot 1 Problems on August 31, 2017, 12:57
Hi everyone, first time poster, definitely not my last!

I've grown borlotti beans this year and oven dried them for a few hours at around 60c before putting them into a sealed jar. A few weeks later I've spotted a few beans have a fuzzy mould on them. Are the beans ruined now or can I wash them and re-dry them for storage?

Many thanks in advance for any advice!

They obviously weren't dry enough when they went in the jars. I'd tip them out onto a tray, removing the obviously mouldy ones,  to continue open air drying - removing any that grow mouldy in the meantime.

Thanks mumofstig. I've a sneaky feeling that the jar itself wasn't actually completely dry.
