Title: Returning member- moved house and gained a new allotment!
Post by: prestongirl82 on January 28, 2017, 11:15
Hi all
I have been a member of this site since 2009.  I moved home in April 2014 from Preston, Lancs to Liskeard, Cornwall. We have a big garden here but have 4 large trees so unable to grow fruit/veg. I put my name down for an allotment and now have one.
It's quite big- 35ft x 47ft. It is next to a tap and is completely flat, it had the same plot holder for 40 yrs so is in brilliant condition with only a small patch of weeds in one corner.
I have a paved area in one corner, 2 compost bins and 2 gooseberry bushes. The rest is empty- apart from a metal post in the ground on the left hand side (that i can't get out so it will stay).
So far I have put some weed membrane fabric down in the shape of a square, marked out an area with string, and put 3 small polythene tunnels down to warm the soil.
The plot is the first one as you come in through the gate, I think there are 40 plots on our site.
I have made a plan of what to plant, where to make paths etc.
The weather down here is definitely milder than in Lancashire. Today the sun is out and we have beautiful blue sky.
I'll post a picture later on.
