Clever Chickens
« on: February 13, 2011, 17:55 »
My new little friends are being so well behaved, I must sound like an idiot but I cannot praise them enough.

I only got them late last night, they are lovely. I do wish I knew how old they were, but they are such happy little things.  Managed to let them have an hour in their new run.  Its built but not in the correct place in the garden yet, weather is so bad here its too muddy.  So set it up on patio and they we hilarious when I let them out, they came upto the patio and watched me eat my tea.   As soon as it started getting dusky they went back into coop run and then finally took themselves off to bed, so Ive closed their coop door, took the food up, closed the run and then locked the enclosure up.
I have 1 Lovely Husband, 2 lovely children, Poppy the Jack Russell, Alvin the Hamster, Jemima & Florence, Ben & Jerry the Budgies and our gorgeous Chick Sylvia and Jess aka Terry :D

You will need to get a comfortable bench or seat to sit with a cup of tea and watch them  :)
Glad to hear they have settled well.  Enjoy your chicken keeping.

F1schuey, I'm so glad to hear you have your chickens after all your careful planning and preparation.  I would also love to see photos of your clever little girls.

Of course nobody here thinks you sound silly in your praise of them.  We all agree!  :D

You are going to enjoy them so very much!  They are addictive, I promise!
When I die I will slide in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand and chocolate in the other, screaming, "Whooo hooo!  What a ride!" as life is to be enjoyed to the fullest!

I havent a clue Ive look at so many Chicken in last few day and been reading up, my mind boggles.... I will be glad when I can get run in the right place and them settled.  At moment they are on my patio, this is due to someone threatening to dump them if I didnt have them.  With the weather being so wet this weekend we couldnt get the land sorted. Husband built part of the run so that they would be secure, they seem happy, but they really need to have a proper run. I'll put a pick of the running progress on

I must say when I saw them that's what I thought too.  They look like hybrid layers.  Most people can't tell a Rhode Island Red from a Kentucky Fried Chicken especially at Garden Centres!

I'm sure they will be finger lickin good and great fun and provide you with a few eggs too.
