.... that is, I bet your hens are back in lay now after the Winter (those whose chx stopped - and are in the UK!)?
Last year my 2 year old 2 pure breeds came back in to lay much earlier - I definitely remember making pancakes with their eggs!
So what's with my girls do you reckon? I did wonder if they need worming so I started that on Sunday. Their run gets the first sunshine of the year - so they are getting over 12 hours of light now. They all look in tremendously good health with glossy feathers etc. No nasties to be seen. Their combs started to become larger and redder a few weeks ago.... but still NO eggs off them.
Is there anything I can do to force help them provide their lovely eggs again?

My two four year old black rocks haven't come back into lay yet - despite me shaking the bag of 'layers' pellets at them! I think they're just enjoying the dust bathing and not bothering about that pesky egg laying nonsense at the moment. ::)
-
some of mine have come back into lay but not the pure breeds, nothing we can do to rush this it will happen in good time :)
-
Just like Joyful - some of mine are laying and some are not - they will all work to their own timetable. :)

Thanks for the replies, I feel a lot better then if not everyone else's are back in lay yet! I thought mine were being lazy. Just have to be patient then. :)

Three of mine kept laying all over the winter. Three of the four Black Rocks molted and went off lay but they are all back in lay now. Still not quite an egg a day but getting there, my neighbours are happy to get their eggs again. :)

Ive never been without eggs all winter, my 14month old warrens have been superb..
-
warrens will lay most days for the first couple of years and then will trail off.
-
But of course, theirs only a certain amount of eggs in any hen, regardless of type its just when they lay.

Im regularly getting 7 eggs per day from my 9 girls, although a couple of days ago, I got 12 within 24 hours....work THAT one out! The eggs are also getting to be a good size now, and yesterday, OH had a double yolker on his toast for brekkies!
-
Used to get double yolkers regular when the hens were young, but hav'nt had any for months and unlikely to...

I would like Poppy to start laying as she is my broody, but I think at her age she might have retired.

Our hens have laid all winter, bar a few days and thanks to our fertile little cockerel, there's not much room for anything else in the fridge :(
