Title: small swelling near eye
Post by: stickywicket on September 02, 2008, 16:37
Hi

My silver sussex bantam has a small swelling between her eye and her beak. Does anybody have any ideas what this could be ?

She seems to be well otherwise , although a few weeks ago I did notice on a couple of occasions that she was breathing with her beak open but she has stopped doing that now.

She is still quite young but has started to get her comb and redden up.

Thanks .

Are you able to pop a photo up Sticky?

And a bit more detail

Is she eating/drinking ok?
are they free range or in a run?
Are your others ok?
How big is it if your not able to pop a pic up?

Pressume you've just noticed it or has it been there a while??

Sorry for all the questions but want to help best we can :)

I'm wondering if it could be a sheep tick :?

Hi

Sorry can't put up a pic at the moment.

It is quite small. Not really noticeable unless you look at her from the front and you can then see that one side is slightly swollen compared to the other.

I don't think it is a tick or anything like that. It just looks like a small lump.

She seems to be eating drinking ok . She is kept in a run with 3 other chooks which are all ok.

I have been on hols for 2 weeks and noticed it when I got back.

Could it be something to do with her sinuses?

With out a photo it's hard to tell

Is she breathing ok? Has she got the sniffles?

Poop's normal?
