Amazon fire stick  £39.99.    The man who is going to fit it recommends this one.     I cannot get catch-up or iplayer or my existing Sony, because it is too old.     I only get the basic channels and do not subscribe to anything.     The strange thing is I bought the tv, from this man about 2010 when he and his brother had a wonderful shop near us.     He now does all things relating to computers, tv's etc and electrical repairs.
I do have a Hymax recorder, but feel I need to update a bit, who knows perhaps, I will get "more with it"

I've got a firestick, but have overhead cables so signal is very iffy when the weather is bad. You may be luckier than me - fingers crossed

There are no over-head cables in our Village, not even a  street lamp.   So Fingers crossed.   I hope this will not be my next panic topic about how to do something with it.     Mrs B
