I know a few birds by the call they make but there's a lot of which I don't have a clue what they are when I can't see them. Anyone know a good DVD or something so I can tell what bird it is?

Just ask them, "Come out and identify yourself" and if a great big pigeon says it is a Wren, don't believe it   Mrs Bouquet

Birdnet app, point phone at bird, record sound and it tells you.

That sounds a good app except I only have a very basic Doro phone for emergencies, but am going to get a Smartphone shortly so I'll download that app and try it out. Will it work if the bird is app-shy??

The RSPB DK book has a CD stuck inside!
Have to get it out again soon, as there's a lovely song coming from the churchyard behind us, and we don't know what it is...

My dear niece-in-law sorted my new Smartphone and got the birdnet app loaded so I'll give it a go tomorrow morning.
