Hello and welcome Graham.

I don't know the answer but having kept ducks they make a wet puddly mess of their shed.  I reckon hens would like it drier underfoot.  Await expert replies.

Hi Graham just wanted to say hello and welcome, I keep hens  but have no idea about ducks, though my wife says I'm quakers   :D

Welcome to the site mate, if you've a lot of room, they will run together during the day outside, but i would'nt advise housing them together, as ducks are realy messy :)  :)

Hi I have been reading everything I can find in the last 2 weeks as I have just got ducklings and chickens.

You should not keep them together as the ducks are noisy at night and disturb the chickens, can't remember where I read this.

I bought Katie Thears book about ducks and its brilliant so have a read before you commit its worth every penny.  If you do get some watch the feeding,  ducklings cannot eat regular chick crumbs, buy organic or ones which have no added medicines, it will kill them otherwise

I have 6 ducklings about 3 weeks old and they mess they make is horrendous so think of you poor chickens and keep them seperate.  Mind you the chickens do make a fair bit of mess its just not so muddy as the ducks.
