Went to Wilco's today as they finally got their Potatoes and Onions out.

Bought Pentland Javelins - First Earlies

Maris Piper - Second Earlies

These two are on top of the kitchen cupboards as my kitchen is not hot or cold, just right.

Desiree - maincrop. Will chit these in Feb/Mar.
Thanks

We dont seem to have a large range in our local (small) Wilcos, but Ill go in tomorrow on my lunch hour too see what goodies they have

You do need to give them as much daylight as possible otherwise you'll just get long spindly white shoots which aren't much cop.

Stick 'em on a cold window ledge, that's the best place, then you should get nice stumpy Green shoots.. :)

Honest. :D

Sorry to bang on a bit but if you chit them on your Kitchen Cupboards which presumably won't be in direct sunlight or any daylight then you'll just get white spindly shoots.

You need to give them as much daylight as possible in a cool position.

 :)

Thanks everyone.

When I get home from work tonight, I will transfer them to the laundry window that gets the sun most of the day.

Is too much bad...

Direct sun will make them hot  :?  It's good light level you need, not heat.

If you don't have any cool window ledges eg north-facing windows you could put some newspaper or something like that up to shade them a little

I am from the South West, sunny during the day/overcast as and when.

I think the laundry room only sees the sun in the morning, but does come through blistering when the sun is out.

This is where I germinate all my seeds, due to the sun being so strong.

I don't have a garage or greenhouse and the shed would be too cold.

Arghhhhh

What shall I doooooooo.

You could try a small polyhouse or cold frame outdoors during the day and put them in the laundry room overnight - bit of a faff I know  :(

Shading the sun out a bit in the laundry room during the morning would be my choice.
