Title: Battery powered lawnmowers
Post by: doubledug on June 09, 2010, 14:35
I recently had to replace the mains powered lawnmower and decided to go for a battery powered model. I decided on the bosch because of the battery performance, low weight quick to charge and does not discharge when left unused. they are a bit expensive, I paid £220 and that was well discounted but it does what it says on the tin so to speak. I used it on the allotment and they thought it was a quiet diesel motor .
the real bonus is i can now send my mother out to mow the lawn without fear of her getting tangled up in the cable, she is 87 and a fall at her age might mean she would have to take time off from her domestic duties.

I've got a cordless strimmer, do you think she could come and do my borders?

I've been looking at those Bosch machines, the spec seems very good.
Glad to see you've got your Mums best interests at heart. :D

Meanwhile, my Atco Battery Mower has been mowing here and locally since 1968.... ;)

I will be well satisfied if mine lasts that long, although if it does it's likely to see me out

We've had a gtech one for about 3 or 4 years now.  It's great.  It goes up to the allotment occasionally too when I'm tired of my little hand mower.  I bought a spare battery but have never needed to change them.  :)

Any chance of placing a link to your new mower's manufacturer or supplier?

I'd be interested to take a look.  ;)

I've just bought a new manual push mower and love it. No wires or engines and no noise.
It coped easily with my lawns and my parents and then made very quick work of the allotment paths.

The advantage for me is that it is so light and the handles fold so it fits easily into a cycle trailer leaving room for other things I want to transport to the plot.  :)

If i knew how to place a link my friend i would do it gladly, I am not bad with a fork and trowel but i am afraid you will have to search for it, Bosch rotak 34 li should do the trick.
