I've got bird seed hanging outside my window but no birds appear to be eating them. I've also got a fat ball. Any suggestions?

It might take them a few days to find them.  How long have you had them up?

Any  hawks  in the area to scare them away? Or cats?

Hi ScentedStock and welcome!

Do you have any bushes or trees nearby for them to perch in before they venture forth for the seed?

The window is on the first floor and overlooks the garden where there are busy plants. But the window is down a sort of alley. It's the section of the house which is between the extensions. I was thinking about putting a window box with bright flowers on the window.

I've never tried feeding on First Floor, only Ground Floor level.

:D We used leave food on a window sill in our attic flat in Cardiff (poor starving student in really slummy accomodation) --- we only ever had pigeons feeding there
