Autumn fruiting raspberries
« on: February 17, 2013, 20:29 »
Do people put in any supports for these (I have polka) - the Internet seems to have conflicting advice. I have 5 canes and am unsure whether to plant them in a row or as a 'group' in a bed as once again the advice is conflicting! I need to get them in this week so I need to make my mind up...

I've got a 32' row of Autumn Bliss and not a stake in sight!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Do you find the canes drag on the floor and result in rotting fruit (which seems to be the argument for staking them). Obviously I would far rather not stake if I don't have to!

If they did, you'd see some stakes!

I have what started off as a single row of Polka, which when they start growing again wil be a three feet wide hedge without any support.

Any that grow outside of this will have their roots chopped with a spade and dug out.
I`m left handed, what`s your excuse?

Perhaps 'row' was not a good description for a 32' x 6' block!

Mine are heading in that direction as well - and none are staked here either  ;)
