hi we are new to the site, have been growing at home for a few years now, do well most years with soft fruits and veg, having a clear up and tidy etc  ........ we have some lovely raspberry canes, now ive got a nice bit of space at the bottom of these canes id like to know if i could put some veg in this space?? nothing that is a root veg as the root system on the rasps wouldnt like this but something like cabbage or lettuce ?? many thanks

Hi

I wouldn't plant anything in amongst the rasps ,they will grow quite big later on.

Anything you put there will only take nutrients away from the rasps and be in the way.

I agree don't plant anything near them, but being shallow rooted and rampant, I think it's the raspberries that will take the nutrients away from the other plants.

You'll also get suckers growing in the other plants.

we do get alot of shoots off the rasps, these have fruited the neighbours well ....
