Does anyone have any tips on building a chicken run and new henhouse . We currently have a Coop 2000 which we bought off ebay. It serves it's purpose as our chickens have free run of the garden so only roost in the henhouse at night. We also now have 5 chickens so it is a bit on the small side. We are planning  at penning them in to a new run as this will be more practical for all and much safer. Looking at a run of about 12ft x 5ft. Any ideas please>? We are thinking of an external hen house which has a latter down into the run. Any help much appreciated. It is going to be a weekend project for me in March/April

if the run is to be permanent you need at least 2 sq meters per bird preferably 3 sq meters per bird.

also  make sure you have plenty of different things in there to keep them from getting bored - things like logs, a dust bath, hanging veg to make them reach up, perches, etc
