Hi
I have lark fi hybrid sweetcorn growing on my plot and i have noticed that some of the plants are throwing up one and sometimes two sideshoots growing up from the base of the plant would it be favorite to remove these and have just one growing stem or does it not matter

now i amight be wrong and sure if i am someone will correct me but think they might help stabilise the plant - bit like an anchor? sure someone with way more knowledge than me will be along in a bit to tell more on this

Titch i think you mean the extra roots that grow from the stem? you can earth these up if you want to help stabilize the plant :)

thanks mos, i wasnt sure but knew that something coming out the bottom was like and anchor  :wub: -
couple of mine have the extra tiller so hoping ofr extra cobs - keeping an eye out for the roots and wont get them confused now  :wacko:
