Losing her voice.
« on: December 21, 2011, 12:28 »
Hello everyone.

I've tried looking through past threads but I've now read so many that I've confused myself

I have four girls all 32 weeks old today.  All have been fine up till now.  Averaging 3-4 eggs daily, they live in an extended comercial built run/coop combination and are free range when I'm home from work.

I feed them "Marriages" layers pellets and if they are not going to be in the garden I top up with green veg scraps.

2 days ago, I noticed that one of them seems to have a croaky voice.  Apart from her voice she seems fine.  Still eating and drinking although I can't guarantee that she is laying as so far today only 3 eggs.

She is currently running round the garden perfectly happy.  It's just that her voice is noticibly quieter than usual.

I was thinking about getting some Apple Cider Vinegar to put in their water but some threads on here say yes and some say it's not necessary -

All advice greatfully received.  :)

What is it about my kitchen that is so more appealing to the chickens than the back garden!!!   ;-)

Have they been wormed recently with Flubenvet (they can get worms in their throat)?

Thanks Kegs.

No they haven't.

Do I get Flubenvet from the vet or can I buy it from my animal feed supplier?

Here's the info you need and you can get it from your vet or on line.

Thanks Kegs. ;)

Flubenvet and Apple Cider Vinegar all ordered from Petmeds.  I wonder if they will arrive in time for me to wrap them up for the girls for Christmas

4 eggs yesterday so at least I know they are all laying.  Not sure if I'm being paranoid but I think another one seems to have the same problem now.  Hopefully all will be fine when the Flubenvet and Apple Cider Vinegar arrives and gets administered!
