I let the hens out this morning roaming the yard and they were all there and happy.... round lunch time there seemed to be one missing, which I didn't worry too much about as they have a huge area to roam in with loads of nooks and crannies. A few feathers lying about, but some of them were there from yesterday (must be of them shaking the feathers).

This evening still no sign of No 6 I searched everywhere making rosey noises- or what I thought sounded like it- to no avail. I hope the dog hasn't got one after all

have you checked under bushes and in corners DN?  One evening I hadn't realised that mine were locked out of their coop because the gate had blown shut and I found them huddled in different parts of the lottie, behind pallets and in hedges.

Hope you find out one way or the other for certain so you stop worrying

Yeah, i thought too if I could at least find the remains I knew not to look anymore.... well, I suppose I may apply an old rule: if you have live stock you'll have dead stock... or missing stock in this case

Good job they don't have eartags or the likes or I would have to notify the ministry

surely if the dog had got it you would have heard? they make the most terrible racket when attacked, i lost some of my hens many years ago, they were rooosting in the trees, hopefully she'll turn up for breakfast looking like butter wouldn't melt......
