And the weather forecast STILL looks like it'll favour the blighters for a while yet. What are you doing to control the slugs in your garden?

I use nematodes which worked really well last year and only used one application.  This year I have done it every 6 weeks and STILL have a slug problem.  I guess it's just a bad year for slugs (or good from their point of view!).

me and the slugs have had a every day battle. i use salt mostly and when its raining i collect them from the garden which has helped.
beer traps has also helped but also attracts the flies so i resulted in slug pellets.

The weather has been brilliant here for the last week and a half - wall to wall sunshine and the Met website says it is settled for a bit yet (yahoo... 'cos I'm going to the Lakes next week) SO... hopefully that will deter the blighters.
I've resorted to slug pellets in a big way this year so that I had at least some veg. to take home.

Earlier in the year remember the lovely dry spring ? then I had none now I'm starting to think plague of locusts level, even the pellets don't seem to stop em getting at my strawberries

I think I'm mostly growing resistant things to slugs. Nicola potatoes always seem to put off slugs better than baking/fluffy potatoes. I had to put down a few slug pellets around my horseradish because their leaves were getting eaten badly and some around the beans when they were little but mostly haven't had major problems. Sweetcorn and squashes are unaffected and of course my herbs aren't either.  Slugs were bad last year so I've been learning as I go as far as what I can grow and what I absolutely can't grow.
wistfully hoping to one day be mostly organic gardener in North London.

I don't find that to be a problem.  Any flies that get in are drowned, along with wasps and earwigs.   What design of trap are you using?
