Hi all, just a quick one - all of the greenery on my potatos - both second earlies and main crops have died - will the potatos be ok? Can i leave them until i need them or should i dig them up now?

You can pull up the foliage and leave in the ground for a while if you wish, not  blighted are they ? if so then get the foliage off asap
He who asks is a fool for five minutes, but he who does not ask remains a fool forever.

Mine have done exactly that, i think its due to the excess of water and most prob blight! I am removing my greenery tonight should the sun remain bright!

Same here, think it's blight.  They were down to leggy dead sticks by the time I had chance to remove them today.  I did pull a few spuds (Desiree) while I was at it, as I needed some for tea, and they look OK.

:?: So do I just leave them in the soil for a couple for weeks for the skins to thicken up?  Or dig and dry them off in the sun (ha) for storage asap?  :?:

Any advice would be appreciated as I only grew my first ever spuds last year, and that was very, very different to this year...

Leave them underground for at least 10 days until blight spores die out on surface of soil.

They're under black plastic mulch at the mo - will this make any difference?

No.  Blight attacks tubers via the haulm

Also tubers will continue to swell a little for up to a month ( so I read somewhere the other day).
