Hunting has to be the most frugal way of getting fresh, observered healthy meat? Sometimes I look at packages in supermarket and wonder what where and when this came from? No answers. When huting you know where when and why and how satisfying....well I think so ?

Yes brilliant if you can. I had a present of Sika deer last year; so tender and delicious.

You never see game in the shops here. I remember a local greengrocer in England who always had various game birds and rabbits hanging outside.

Rabbit or pigeon casserole beats roast turkey any day!

Our Christmas dinner yesterday was a haunch of roe deer we had been given by a hunter. I boned it out and rolled it up into a joint. It was delicious and have got loads left as cold cuts in the fridge. It's like the best quality beef but with extra taste - yum

I love rabbit and pigeon too, but not so keen on pheasant.

my old grand dad taught me how to butcher and skin almost any thing but getting hold is hard since the old man i knew has move away form here now

however in the sprite of frugle living will not say no to a deer or rabbit if no one wants any

make friends with beaters on the local shoot, or go beating yourself, we get more pheasant then we can eat offered, also partridge and wild duck! We eat like Kings and live like paupers
