for free well i work for a housing association and we each year cut down / trim up lots of trees and the wood is free to any one who wants it rather then paying it to be skip this year got about 6 tonnes for free as well as that i am one of the group who clears out empty homes and sheds these year the boss asks my if i knew anyone who need two tonnes of coal as a oap had changed over to gas i said i knew a ill oap who could use it just happen to be my mum who i live with , he said take it  better then skipping it  . so not a bad year now started  getting wood for next winter  dropped off  such a hard life but anyone can get the wood for free all you have to do is ask and then take it away
