Potting Shed - recommendations?
« on: February 26, 2013, 09:26 »
Anyone bought a potting shed recently or can recommend a company that is reliable and good value?
The place I bought my shed from many years ago is still about and no doubt would do potting sheds, but no harm in finding out if there are alternatives.
Thanks in anticipation.  :D
I have my own cement mixer and not afraid to use it!!

I costed buying the wood to build my own from scratch and found it was cheaper to buy one. Then looked at the ones in B&Q but I wanted a solid floor and roof so they were out. Eventually found a local firm who supply and erect at reasonable cost for excellent quality.

So my advice is to shop local. Sorry we're in N Wales but bound to be a firm or two in Kent who can help.

Ok thanks. The are online companies offering discounts but never know what you might end up with and would need to add the cost of putting it together as well. I am sure thre is a deal to be done locally so will do that first.

Having said what I did, on the other hand a friend of mine bought a real cheap one and then upgraded it himself. Before the base went down he fixed strengthening battens to the underside. It's lasted him 5 years so far and looks as good as new.

Whatever you go for, I'd strongly recommend getting a good wood preserver, like Cuprinol and giving it 3 coats on the floor inside, 2 on the walls outside.

Hi Digger - found the company and have contacted them. I hope I have the correct one - Sheds and Shelters?

Thanks again John.
As I am investing a lot of money in the shed I want it to last so the painting is no problem.

Just bought a potting shed from Tiger Sheds, i'm very impressed with them 8 x 6, good quality wood, some looked like they'd been made out of matchsticks when we had a close look.  Ordered online and was delivered within 14 days, got a thumbs up from me  :D

Check out Skinners Sheds.

I had a new 8x6 shed delivered and erected last week for £499, and I do know that they make potting-sheds. All their buildings are tongue and groove, including the floor. And the quality is pretty impressive!
I may be Welsh, but I love ewe anyway!
