Title: Can I use a paraffin heater?
Post by: Shandy on February 26, 2013, 19:06
I have a polycarbonate greenhouse, can I use a paraffin heater in it?

I have been offered a free heater and do not want to take it if it is going to be of no use.

Guidance please :)

During a hot summer I expect it's designed to withstand the heat from the sun, so I can't imagine a paraffin heater being any different really - so long as it's not oven-hot obviously!

But, then again, that is my personal opinion............other more learned colleagues on this fabulous website may differ in their opinion!

I have used one in mine, but only for a few nights on low - just to keep the frost out after the toms were planted out.

I don't know if they'd stand having the heater turned up

Have had a paraffin heater a long time ago. Make sure that you ventilate regularly to keep plenty of oxygen in the greenhouse. Also the soot will make the glass a bit dirty
