New Eglu Cube Owner
« on: June 25, 2011, 10:22 »
Morning Everyone
We are the proud owners of 5 girls and one Eglu Cube - question- the hatching box in the Eglu cube - is it realistically big enough for five hens to lay eggs without fear of the eggs being trampled on and broken?    I came down this morning to find our first [albeit somewhat unformed and probably not edible] egg had been broken.

Does anyone have a potential solution or thoughts and/or has anyone encountered a similar problem?

I have removed a lot of the straw I previously put down on the nesting perches so as to differentiate between the sleeping compartment and the nesting box and I have placed a golf ball in what is now very obvious, a nest.

Thanks in advance for replies and suggestions.

at the moment I have 9 nest boxes availabel for all my girls and they all use just 3 so 1 nest box for 5 is fine  :)
Staffies are softer than you think.
