disposing of soiled wood chips from hen run
« on: February 01, 2010, 18:42 »
can anyone advise whether or not soiled wood chips from my girls' run can go to the tip as garden waste please or go into my brown wheelie bin?  I know some can be composted down or dug into the garden but after our big clean we have over 4 huge sackfulls and i need to know if i will be breaking the law passing them off as garden waste?
cheers ???

this is something i would like an answer to as well , i will be having a lot more then 4 big sacks worth though  mine could go on the allotment for pathways but its the smell that bothers me an no doubt would upset other ppl . i would think it will burn if its dry enough .

Offer it to other allotmenteers? Offer it on freecycle? Folk without hens would be glad of the compost/manure I'm sure.

I would freecycle too..... I have 6 massive bags a week from my quail...... I have a waiting list of people who will turn up within the hour to relieve me of my bags of gold :)

It is shavings though and not wood chip..... but cant see that as a massive problem :)
I love Pekins, Polands and Seramas :) and eggs!!!
