Cherry tree

Hi, I am considering growing a cherry tree, just for the fruit, not really bothered what it looks like.
Is there a fairly fast growing variety that doesn't grow too tall. I would like one that produces fruit ASAP after planting.........I don't want to wait 10 years

Contact Blackmoor Nursery.

I requested a cherry tree to be espalierized! They went to a great deal of trouble to select the 'right tree' for me and they kept me informed about the delivery day and the state of the weather causing a delay. I now have a cherry tree planted and looking forward to espalierizing it. Cheers, Tony. (tell them Kleftiwallah sent you) ! ! !

Contacted Blackmoor, very helpful although they don't allow perusing though

They suggested a dwarf, 2m height & spread called Maynard.
That sounds perfect, so thanks Tony for the recommendation.

Now for my next problem, I'm planting the tree for the other Chris, as a valentines gift.

Blackmoor say a mix of well rotted manure & compost for the site.

Compost isn't a problem...........well rotted manure is.

I have located some stables close to my workshop who have horse manure but it's all fairly fresh & I won't be able to use that in 10 days time.......any suggestions.

My garden / centre farm equipment shop have bags of manure, my cherry tree is sitting on a couple of those mixed with organic veggie compost. I suggest your's should also.

This way you know you are starting your cherry tree off well. Don't forget to drive the stake in BEFORE you plant, you don't want to damage the roots. Cheers, Tony.
