just had a look myself hobnails looks pretty good from the pages the site let you look through will hint to my fiancce over in ohio -- that it would make a nice gift for me  :D

I'm quite impressed with it Jay as it comes with comprehensive drawings and pictures. Only possible drawback is finding the 200w filament bulbs it uses when the sun is not shining.
Must make an effort to get it put together before summer arrives1

I think the biggest filament bulb you are allowed to buy these days thanks to the the environment police is a 60W.
No reason why you can't use 3 is there? (can't find a tongue in cheek smiley)

None at all Lawrence!
It's just what the plans in the book call for if a heat source is needed to keep things moving should the sun disappear for a while!
I don't plan to build mine with an alternative heat source.
Could this do for a tongue in cheek smiley

Ours is a l'equipe filter pro.

Yup yogurt!!! Obviously not dehydrating it but making it :-) according to Mr Fairy its easy to do, just some milk a little natural yoghurt and the correct temp!!

Just waiting on some beef and venison jerky - should be ready in a few hours  :)

I saw that in the instructions for my dehydrator (the yoghurt not the jerky)but it is just as easy to do yoghurt with a thermos flask  ;)

You heat up your milk to just below boiling point, and then let it cool to blood heat (37)
Mix in 2 tablespoons of live Yoghurt as a culture, and pour into your sterile thermos.
Leave overnight and in the morning you have Yoghurt.
Transfer to another container and put it into the fridge.

Job done!

ive been looking into these for a while too  - if you look on ebay there is a massive wooden one that harvests the sun (so no need for bulbs), although it states that you do need a very few days to make it work

Yep that's the one :)

And if you add a couple of tablespoons of dried milk powder it makes a thicker yoghurt ;)
