Title: Grape pruning advice

I've been pinching out all side growth on my vine (planted this spring) and it has now reached the eaves at 5ft, and started to twiddle round the roof support bracket  :D

Do I need to prune it back now to thicken the stem up, or just leave it 'til it is pruned in winter, ready for training along the eaves? I've looked online but advice seems contradictory.  :unsure:
