I have been growing Gardeners delight toms for as long as I can remember. They are the best for many reasons especially their flavour. However this year has been a great disapointment as the seeds I bought from Wilco have produced a tastless tomato. On the packet it claimed to have the RHS medal award.I have made a complaint to Wilco, but they have not got back to me.A relative of mine has also had the same experience with another seed producer.Has anybody else out there had the same problem?

Many people have complained over the last few years about Gardeners Delight losing its taste...
I'm not at all surprised this year, because the weather makes a lot of difference to the taste.
It's been a bad year for growing any variety, I'm afraid - they do like a Mediterranean climate, for a good taste and yield...

I reckon you're right, Trekkles and Mum.

The 'strain' of GD has really deteriorated over the years, such that we're not bothering with them any more!

It's a shame, as they used to be a fabulous tom, and I used to keep the seed every year, but had to buy some and they weren't half as good!

I think the weather has had something to do with it all as well!

This is actually the first year I've seen GD available here, I bought a packet and I'm very pleased with both the production and the flavor.  I think the seeds were from Ferry Morse Seed company.

Maybe it's just been a bad weather year?

Real Seeds have a variety called Gardener's Ecstasy:

https://www.realseeds.co.uk/tomatoes_vines.html

Maybe try that one next year.

I think this year has been a write off if you live in SE England. You'll struggle to grow marginal crops in weather that is more normal for the Shetland isles.
