Can anyone advise me if it is possible to pick pears although they are not yet ripe and store
them whilst they ripen!
As with other forum members our fruit trees are getting attacked by wasps and are spoiling the fruit (pears), any helpful guidance would be appreciated as would hate to lose the pears to these little b....s

yes, you can pick unripe pears that aren't at all damaged, wrap each pear in one sheet of newspaper (don't wrap 2 in 1) and gently place in a short box, only one layer. Sounds wasteful but pears damage fast. Store in cool place.

Check regularly, maybe every few days as they'll ripen fast for most varieties and won't store long.

I have a Williams Bon Chretien tree and have been picking pears for three weeks a few at a time to relieve pressure on the branches.

They are just left in the kitchen to ripen, but they have to be checked very regularly as they seem to go from green and hard to over-ripe almost overnight. Several have been binned because they go soft, mushy and inedible.
