Feeding Cucumbers
« on: March 28, 2012, 06:46 »
Hi,
Last year i read an article by Medwyn Williams about feeding greenhouse cucumbers with a teaspoon of dried blood each week rather than tomato feed as with the latter they often run out of steam.
I bought a 5kg bag from Scats and the cucumbers did well but i found it sat on top of the compost and didnt water in very well.
Does anybody know of a more water soluble blood product?

Cheers

You could perhaps try some BFB in the soil at planting time. We have also found that moisture retaining granules are very useful in the cucumbers' planting medium. :)

The dried blood will act over a much longer period i imagine. It may be possible to stir it into the water and leave it for a day to dissolve a little.
