Old Bean Pods: Pick or Not?
« on: August 10, 2012, 17:45 »
I have runners and French beans plants planted a bit too close and as a result, some bean pods were left unpicked and grew too big and old.

If I leave them till they become dry seeds, will they stop the plants produce more beans?

I read somewhere else that one has to pick often to get more beans.

And at what time of year should I stop picking if I want to produce some seeds? Please?
Rain at night, sunshine all day long!

I should mark your pods chosen for seed now (bit of raffia) and discard all other's hoping for a second fresh flush of beans.

But I'm willing to be shot down in flames

Cheers,    Tony.
I may be growing OLD, but I refuse to grow UP !

I take them all off to keep them making more. If I want to save seed I leave it till the end of the season ;)

Seconded.

There's always some left at the end. No need to start saving them  now.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?
