hi,everyone,    I'm new on this site ! I've recently started work on my 1st allotment so have been busy clearing +digging. I aim to grow most of my veg from seeds and was wondering which is the best bought compost to use?

I always use a multi purpose compost for everything,and Levingtons or Arthur Bowers is as good as you can get.

John Innes No. 3 for me, formulated specifically for seeds, is loam based so not much peat (if that is a consideration) and little artificial fertilizer.

Buy fresh and buy the best, basically pamper your seedlings and the strong healthy plants produced will be better able to look after themselves.

I've used the compost out of Arthur Bowers 'Instant Planters' in the past with good results. The water retaining granules in it help. Also pot up my brassucas in the same stuff.

However, my tomatoes are looking good this year in Tesco's 2 squid for 50 litres multi-purpose.
