I got mince, a bag of carrots and a head of celery as freebies from work (reduced but not sold), so added plot onion and some other bits and turned it into a cottage pie filling.

Tonight is some of it with a mash top of 50/50 potato and pumpkin from the plot, with a bit of spice added in for good measure  :) There was enough of everything to do 2 additional smaller pies, so OH has one for tea tomorrow while I am at work and 1 has gone into the freezer to feed him another night.

Friday - There a handful of oven chips and a large flat mushroom with my name on along with a couple of sawhedges and some mushy peas. Don't judge  :nowink:

OH's last night's leftover meat loaf layered with tomatoes, onions and potatoes plus a few herbs.  ;)
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

Yesterday was also a pie fail after I couldn't keep my grubby mitts off the dhal turning it into a lentil and chickpea curry served with plain basmati  (would have been so much better with naan). Perhaps third time lucky ...
Lentil and chickpea curry - sounds scrummy, whats the recipe please.   Mrs B

It's still a work in progress Mrs B, but the base is the dahl I've been working on  https://chat.allotment-garden.org/index.php?topic=136865.0 for easy lunches from the cupboard.  It's all using standard items with long use by dates so there's no need for me to have remembered to buy anything special. I just added a tin of chickpeas with about 10 minutes left to cook.

I use about 200g of lentils which makes 3 'me sized' servings so you may need to adjust down or at least use a big saucepan ;)

Lidl’s finest fillet steak, £9.99 for 2 but we shared 1 between us & had plenty, so t’other one is now in the freezer for when hubby has to cook & can’t be bothered!! With chips, salad & mushrooms for me & fried egg for him.  :)

I think it's probably time for a shepherds pie and to use up the cabbage. I should also make an effort to do an apple crumble before the windfalls go manky.

My mum got the recipe from Jewish friends, many years ago, but it's easiest now if I link to this video, which has the same ingredients and method :)

OH didn’t eat his cottage pie last night as he ended up going out somewhere.  We had it tonight with plot broad beans.  As it was a modest pie designed for 1, I bulked the meal out with a pud and we had crumble made with pink currants and raspberries from the plot.  I made the crumble base a while ago and froze a couple of spare batches :)
