Serious case of CBA today. I have a pasty in the freezer, that's CBA food.

I was going to make a batch of Cornish pasties, but didn't feel up to making the pastry  ::)
So pan cooked a portion of filling and some runner beans separately. Obviously not the same but wasn't too bad ....

I keep meaning to try this when when I get like that. Youtube link I've only used hot water crust with 100% lard to make proper pork pies.

I've still got the CBA's despite having all day to make something I ended up nuking an emergency chilli and a some nasty off brand microwave rice.

Mince and onions with mixed veggies. Not sure if I'll do mash or just boil the spuds but there will be spoondstanding either way.

Edit : Also just had a walk up the garden to get some apples so there might well be a crumble for afters  :tongue2:

Sir has requested toad in the hole, I've made the batter but it should be interesting as the sausages are pork and apple flavoured rather than plain ones.

My dahl always tastes like lentils in spicy dish water ::)

Change of plan yesterday and I made 2 small mince beef and mushroom steamed puddings with suet pastry instead. The filling was a bit dry but for a first attempt it came out surprisingly well and was hassle free in the slow cooker. I was supposed to leave the second one for dinner today but errrmmm - well I ate it.   :tongue2:

Tonight will have to be mince and mash I was supposed to do yesterday.

3 options :

Mash some of the lentils - about half so you have some with bite and the rest as a sauce.  I just get the potato masher out and get in there.

Too much effort?  Chuck some lentils in that will dissolve into a sauce while the more chunky ones cook through.  Split and peeled mung dhal is good for that, but split red lentils will do the same

Too much effort?  This one will probably make you cringe but a tablespoon of Mayflower curry sauce powder will thicken any curry or dhal.  It is Chinese style curry so not authentic in any way, but won’t do anything too awful to the flavour.  It is a lot nicer than lentils in spicy dish water at any rate

You missed for 4th option : admit defeat and buy M&S tarka dahl when it's on offer or the spice Tailor one which is much better.   :nowink:  I will try again though as I'd like to get it sorted for use as a frozen CBA lunch.

There's a little bit of mince left which may find it's way into a pie for tonight as for some reason I have a hankering for chips  ::)
