BBC survey arrived..
« on: January 20, 2021, 17:29 »
for me to give my opinion on services and value for money
I answered their questions as I saw fit. I think they may wish they hadn't asked  ::)

It's funny, but they didn't actually ask how I thought they could improve the service/what programmes I would like more of. They only asked for ratings on what was available now.

They're starting to panic. I read yesterday that they've lost 400,000 license fee payees over the last couple of years and audience figures for TV have halved over the last decade.

Given what they offer is it any surprise that they are losing fee payers.  Each week it seems to get worse.

We've not had a license for a few years now, we don't even have a TV aerial connected anymore. The only downside is the constant reminders/ threat letters from TV Licensing, but to be fair they shred nicely and go in the compost heap.

The Second Law of Growster is to hear what the BBC say, then consider the opposite is probably true.

The First Law of Growster is to not to bother in the first place!

I'm afraid that when we eventually have to say a heartfelt goodbye to our dear Queen and the Duke, there will be a complete watershed of all that the BBC supposedly stands for, and it'll have to go subscription or pack up completely. The eye-watering money handed out to the slebs they employ is just obscene.

Now, would anyone like to get me started...?

Long discussion last night.  Match of the day (husband), Monty Don and Book at Bedtime on radio 4 (both mine) are the only things would hate to give up.  Licence fee probably cheaper than having to subscribe to them.

The money they pay for their 'talent' is drop in the ocean compared to the huge amounts wasted on layer upon layer of management in the corporation.

I'd miss Radio 4 and 6, that's about it.  I wouldn't miss the news reporting, which imo is shameful.  The government should also sell off Channel 4 while it's still worth owt as it's even worse than the BBC.

I read that news reporting on ITV is better than BBC because it is less biased.   Mrs Bouquet

The government appoints the Chair of the BBC every 4 years.  It's likely that the incumbent won't be reappointed if no. 10 aren't happy.  This could make criticism of the government problematic for the corporation  ;)
