How to Zoom
« on: January 15, 2021, 15:37 »
I want to talk to some friends via Zoom but my pc doesn't have either a mike or a camera. What's the easiest way to do it and what kit would you recommend.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

Great minds think alike, GG.  I had been looking at how to "Zoom" before I logged on the the site.  I'm still no wiser, but I'll have to get one of our sons to explain it and possibly set it up.  I know on my old computer, when doing my language courses, I could get a mike and headphone set that plugged in using one of those little flat ports in the computer, but I don't know if or how you could arrange a camera.  I'm sure someone on here will have the answer though.

I've just found this on Amadzoing which has good reviews, a reasonable price, plus my speakers are Logitech and are very good.
Logitech C270 HD Webcam, HD 720p/30fps, Widescreen HD Video Calling, HD Light Correction, Noise-Reducing Mic.

Have to got an ipad you can do it on there as well.    I hope you can get it sorted.  I do lots of Zoom, especially with u3a, I am on lots of Courses,  (so much still to learn),  apart from all the chatter.   Good luck,  Mrs B

No, I've not got a mobile phone as such, just a very basic one for emergencies only.

I haven't got a modern mobile,  I carry it, like you, for emergencies only.    When I went for my Click and Collect yesterday, it said to ring ........ and say what bay I was parked in.    They should not assume we all have these monsters.  I just called across to the man.   It worked      But I hope you get sorted.  Mrs B

It’s 40 minutes for free, but you can pay for extra, or pay a yearly fee of just under £120 plus vat I think it was

Doesn't it depend on the number of people using it?????? Plotfather and I Zoom his brother and partner (total of 2 devices)and sometimes we go well over an hour. No charges.

Yes, I believe the 40 minute limit applies to 3 or more devices logged in
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
