An early autumn?
« on: August 23, 2020, 23:58 »
I'm now underway with clearing some areas of my plots of summer crops, such as sweetcorn and squashes, as they've run their course. Coupled with the cooler, duller and damper weather - a storm last week and one forecast for the coming week - I have a distinct feeling that autumn has already arrived this last week of August.

Am I being a bit over-dramatic....?

No, just come back from walking the dog, some amazing spiders webs on the bushes twinkling with dew.  Autumn is on its way.  Pulled up the sweet peas yesterday and the runners are for the chop today.

No, on our way to a couple of days away I noticed some trees beginning to change colour, & yes I’ve seen cobwebs sprinkled with heavy dew here & there.

Schools are back for us in Scotland so that automatically feels like autumn for me regardless of the weather.

That is normal over the last 15 years.

We've had a fair few Indian summers, in the mix, IIRC

The haws are well ripe in the rural hedges which is when I think that autumn is well on its way.

It's looking like we are done for this year, but let's face it, March April, May and June were better than good so we had our 'moment in the sun' back then.
Why did i put 4 courgette plants in..

I was thinking that only the other week because the tree leaves are starting to look autumnal and saw some condensation both outside and on the inside of a single-paned window.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

My lawn looks like more like October with all the orange/red leaves from our neighbours beech trees.  The drive doesn't look much better. We don't usually have to start sweeping up until at least the end of September.

I noticed a couple of weeks ago that the robin was making his autumnal back end of the year sound. Everything looks tired in the garden and well spent. Let's face it though. September, October and November are the autumn months anyway. We are nearly there.
