Title: Household tasks you hate
Post by: AlaninCarlisle on October 31, 2021, 10:51
The one I really hate is changing the bedding. I never heard my late wife complain about it but my God what a faff it is with me! Changing the duvet cover on a king-sized bed is a real challenge to me. This morning I timed myself doing the weekly job of changing the undersheet, pillow cases and duvet cover. 30 minutes from start to finish before it looked as if it had been done by my wife. I'm sure she used to do it in five minutes flat. Next hate task is washing it all and trying to dry it outside rather than in the drier to avoid unsightly creases or the pain of ironing the duvet cover.

What jobs do you hate?

Ironing  >:(  I hate it with a vengeance and only iron things that I really, really must  ::)

What jobs do you hate?
All of them.
I'm struggling now with the kingsize bed linen so I'm looking at changing to a double despite the fact my feet be hanging out the bottom.
Ironing is a dark art enjoyed only by .... well - odd folk.
Washing up - it's never ending.
Cleaning - I'm at a complete loss as to how stuff gets dirty to need the constant cleaning it does.

All of them.  No sooner than I finish but it needs doing again.  There are times when I feel like a hamster in a wheel.

I hate peeling potatoes...was my job as a girl
Not very good at getting round to the ironing so when 8 do it’s a mammoth task.
Much prefer being outside in the garden than doing any household chores these day & once I was very houseproud

All of them.  It's a waste of time I'd rather be spending outside.

The only household task which has become easier is defrosting my fridge-freezer - my latest one has a cunning foldaway plastic spout at the bottom which allows the water to flow into a shallow container rather than all over the floor. Genius!  :)

Apart from that, as most others so far - I hate housework (there's always more to do than I've got the inclination to be bothered with so I'm always playing catch-up!  >:()

Cleaning window, and venetian blinds.  Especially the kitchen ones.   Some are over worktops and another the sink etc.  I clamber around, and then go back to get all the smears off.      Mrs Bouquet

I get fed up with emptying the ashes around March, when we should be thinking of putting the fire to bed for the summer!

This year, we bought extra coal at a discount for THIS coming winter, (going cheap because of new 'rules'...:0(, and nearly used it all up last spring when it was so bad!

Mrs Growster isn't that fit at the moment, so I'm doing an Autumn Spring Clean while she's away, and I'm actually enjoying it...

(Liar).

Yes I really, really am!
