Y'know, the bits of music which just won't go away!
My latest is 'Clocks' by Coldplay, and that simple starting piece on a piano just goes round and round...
...and round and round and round...
...and round...

For some reason, I woke up with the guitar hook for Bon Jovi's Wanted Dead or Alive.....
and could actually remember most of the words, including - "When you're alone all you do is think"
After a cuppa most of the words have gone, but that hook is still there :nowink:
Yesterday was Singing Sweet Home Alabama (All Summer Long) by Kid Rock. I seem to be having my very own rock revival lately

This one's weird: Opportunities (Let's Make Lots of Money) by Pet Shop Boys. The song is being used in an insurance advert on TV, featuring a driver and his car's metallic female hood ornament, singing that song to one another as a duet. The ad should come with a warning, "if this is happening to you, pull over immediately and call medical help, you're hallucinating". I couldn't make this up if I tried.
The ad is playing heavily, so the song usually ends up in my head several times a day. An ice pick might dislodge it, but I don't have one of those; probably for the best.

Jailhouse Rock and The Floral Dance  After the sound of the big base drum, make it up as I go along  Had these two for a few weeks now. Mrs Bouquet

You can get rid of any earworm by singing Nellie The Elephant.
You can thank me later. (https://emoticons.datahamster.com/biggrin.gif)

Mum, this is the version I know..

Fabulous, and I also love your version!

We listen to Wave Radio in the van whilst on the to and from work. Every morning they play a 'guilty pleasure' and some of them have been real corkers. They tend to stick in my head all day as they bring back memories. Todays was Lily the Pink and the other day it was Dearest Father, Dearest Mother, you know, the one about going to summer camp.

Did you know 'Lily the Pink' is based on a real life alcholic tonic sold in the USA during prohibition ?
Lydia Pinkham is worth googling. :)

There's another fabulous track, which gets a hum and a tap most days - always has done actually!
We just love the joy of the music, and being a red-blooded Growster, there are several more reasons as can be seen in this clip...

Yesterday, I had my own "Last night of the Proms", didn't have a flag though. Today I have got "JohnRubicon and the tempations of East". What is that about, somebody please put me right. ::) Mrs B

For the computer gamers on the forum who play games like Minecraft and Dwarf Fortress, I offer "Diggy Diggy Hole (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ytWz0qVvBZ0)"...
Do NOT play this video near any pre-teen kids because they WILL sing it over and over and over...

Imagine.. you're stuck in a cell, being fed dogfood unless you come over to the enemy. But there's music, loud music. Just one song repeated endlessly
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDnva_3fcTc (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDnva_3fcTc)
And for suggesting Diggy Diggy Hole which my grandson has found on Alexa, Mr Coffey is ordered to play this

Did you find the Metal version of Diggy Diggy Hole by Wind Rose? Not as good as the original but still a good song!

Bit Nordic that - slightly off the earworm topic but rather amazing. Heilung - Krigsgaldr (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QRg_8NNPTD8)

Now who remembers the Maynards Fruit Gums advert? "Hoots mon, there's a moose loose aboot this hoose!"

Here's another from a few years ago...

What an beautiful machine that organ is.
I remember the loose moose well - and being tangoed!
-
Great stuff, where is the organ situated? There was a place in Cornwall we visited once that had loads of organs. Something magical music machines I think it was called
-
Gorgeous organ piece!
Does anyone remember 'The Guinness Clock'?
The brewery also had a boat on The Thames called 'Gigfy'... (Work that one out)!
Nothing to do with earworms, but fair game really...
-
Morecambe used to have a Guinness clock on the prom. As for earworms, blimey Mr G, I was going to start a thread about them. I woke up the other day with Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer, the next day's was I will always love you (ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo) and today's is some unknown tune I seem to have made up.
-
I had a very sad one several months back, GG...
It was 'In Paradisum' by Durufle, and I just couldn't get it out of my head..:0(
I can still remember waking up to 'Vincent' by Don McClean around 1972, and feeling absolutely miserable for days afterwards - it is such a lovely song too...
On the other hand, Mrs Growster and I recently seem to like making up silly (very rude) words to 'Let's get together' by Hayley Mills! Mrs Growster is also on the case with 'The day we went to Bangor', by Fiddler's Dram!
-
I have a friend who I chat to on the phone every day, and I sometimes try to think of a new greeting just to avoid groundhog day syndrome.
Yesterday I sang 'Hey Baby, I'm your telephone man.' ;)
Trouble is, it stays with me all day (make that two days now I've mentioned it again!)

I woke up with "Vienna" Ultravox ? But I only knew Ah Vienna, so back to the drawing board, something will soon pop into my head. :D

Which got my head running Sweet Harmony by Beloved from the early 90's - a period which didn't have much going for it musically. Still, this is soft on the ear.

I met Midge Ure in a bar once, he wasn’t impressed that I didn’t really know who he was although Vienna was/had been no 1 or in the charts for an age lol

Cheers, Tony. :D

A Welsh group that should have been bigger but there you go. I love this version of Raggle Taggle Gypsies (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9bzls8GQPUs) which has been in my head all day.
-
Invariably, around lunchtime on most days, and certainly when I'm outside thinking about coming in, there's an involutary recall of the first words of this fabulous song by my favourite band...
https://youtu.be/y1tFQMjc-IE (https://youtu.be/y1tFQMjc-IE)
It was the first ever song I heard by them, way back in the early seventies, and I went to the record shop in Hastings to buy it, but as it was on an LP, we couldn't afford the £3.50, so I had to wait a few years...

That'll go down well in Wesminster Abbey one day...

A piano piece by Rachmaninov (I think) but can't remember its name. If any musical peeps on here can decipher this please let me know. It starts thus and goes downwards in the scale of C:
G E F E C, A B C G.
It might not be written in the scale of C but am not doing flats and sharps for other keys. :tongue2:

It's one of the more memorable ones...

I’ve got Walking in Sunshine by Katrina & the waves, since I answered it on pointless a couple of evenings ago, then I managed to add it in to the song link ups on here (yesterday?) then heard it on the radio in the car, so now it’s firmly stuck. Could be worse
-
Yeah.. my bl%%dy tinnitus!! :(

No, that's from the film Brief Encounters which was made at Carnforth railway station not far from here. Mine's in a major not minor key so have another try for me or I'll not sleep tonight. ::)
-
Aaaaah...
I've got it in my head now, (I think) but just can't place it at the moment!
My dad had the recording, and often played it at home...
Don't wait up!
-
As of a few hours ago, my latest earworm is the theme song from 'Auf wiedersehen Pet', as we've been watching the whole series from the start every evening!
https://youtu.be/Y3V0g_TyeHQ?si=m7_DR6EkwJNa1XVz (https://youtu.be/Y3V0g_TyeHQ?si=m7_DR6EkwJNa1XVz)
It's amazing that the programme is over forty years old, and still works as well as it did all that time ago!
Mrs Growster has threatened all sorts of punishment as it's going around her head as well now...
-
Yeah.. my bl%%dy tinnitus!! :(
Poor you, I get it sometimes and mine sounds like the door bell ringing. Not happy in the middle of the night :mad:Mrs Bouquet
