Title: Car Insurance - Update
Post by: mrs bouquet on June 04, 2019, 15:26
I have spent hours on the 'phone, and now have to choose between two.  The AA, have come in at £271.73. with £300 excess (my choice to compare with existing)  but not all of the things are covered.  ie: no misfuelling cover,
Shelias Wheels who I am currently insured with £313.66.

I am so worried,  will I have a prang, will I lose my key, will I put the wrong fuel in.   I am careful about that, because Darling OH did that once, and never lived it down,  It was probably only 1/2 a pint when he realised but the damage was done.   Petrol in a diesel car  ::)

Help,  Does the AA sound too cheap.   But all of the others were much more expensive.  Mrs Bouquet      Sorry to bother you all again.

Most insurance companies manage to successfully issue an insurance certificate and take your premium off you  ::), the real test is of course if you were unfortunate enough to have an accident.

Presume you've not had to put Sheila's Wheels to that particular test over the past few years?
You could try ringing them to ask if they could match or come close to the AA quote, although I have to say I did take up M&S insurance's offer to do just that a few years ago, and after talking me through every single detail again...

...they came up with exactly the same premium and wouldn't budge a penny!

My rough rule of thumb is that I can't be bothered to change companies for the sake of up to £20, but over that I'd probably jump ship, so in your case I'd try for a reduction first, and if no joy, jump ship.
