New chick on the block
« on: January 08, 2008, 11:03 »
Hi Everyone

I'm new and have just become the proud owner of three lovelies.  but, as I have explained on the "Welcome" thread, I was too excited to pay much attention to what the breeder was saying - so many names whizzed past my ear!

I know I have a Japanese Pekin.  A big, fat beautifil Buff something or other and a Maran (A bluey/grey) who, I have been informed, will be a good layer when she becomes POL.

I know it's bad not knowing what i have, it stinks of someone who isn't interested - but I am, I went in wanting Black Rocks, or RIRs or Orpingtons.  But I was like  kid in Hamleys and well...best laid plans (no pun intended).

I've lots of questions to ask, hope I don't bore you all!!

Poogle x

It's sooooo tempting to have one of each.. have done it many times myself. Sounds like you have a Buff Orpington. They are such pretty birds. I have one who is coming up for 4 this year. She's not a very good layer (two batches of 30-40 eggs a year) but not a bad broody and her looks make up for her lack of laying power.
Enjoy your girls!

Hmm...I though maybe an Orpington but my sister has them so I think I would maybe have pricked my ears had he told me that's what she was (perfect Queen's English - NOT!).  And she's more brown than orange, if that makes a difference?

Re: the name.  Needed a name when creating an e-bay account yeeears ago and my little daughter came up with it having visited my friend's new puppy, a Bedlington, who looked like a "baby poogle".  And it kind of stuck.....
