Post-equinox over-eating
« on: September 30, 2021, 13:29 »
Anyone else suffer from this ailment? I keep my weight at around a healthy 12 stone until autumn sets in and then, BANG! I can't stop myself from snacking until the scales look at me accusingly and tell me I've put on 5lb and I see sense again, usually around mid November

Yes, I'm noticing that I want to eat more, now it has begun to turn chilly.
I have 2 options...
1 turn the heating on and pay more or,
leave the heating off and eat more, which also costs more  ::)

Today I decided to put the heating on, as it must be the healthier option  (that's my excuse anyway)

Nowhere near cold enough for heating where I live. That doesn't usually get used until November.

Lucky you, not to need it - but I think we've had this discussion before

My heating went on on 30th.  It is only set for 19 degrees C so is popping on for short bursts morning and evening at the moment.  It is on all day today as I am in, but hasn’t really kicked in for hours.

I will go without a lot before I will tolerate being cold at home.  I worked outside at a garden centre for years and now job no. 2 entails frequent trips into a walk in storage fridge, so at home I like to feel cosy.

The over-eating doesn’t get me that badly, but I do have more frequent cravings for spicy food and good old comforts like gravy and custard. Must be an ancient memory locked deep in our brains, from the days when winter really did mean hard times for almost everyone, except the nobles

Hubby reset our heating to come on yesterday afternoon as it was more than a tad chilly the day before, but it’s only been of for short periods today, morning & evening. When we do have some sun we open the sliding doors into the conservatory & let the heat into the house, that makes a difference.
As for provisions, I,  like I think most of us on here, keep a well stocked freezer & cupboards and could live for a fair few weeks without going out for much. I am getting a bit short on diesel though but have resisted filling up as I normally would when I get down to a 1/4 a tank. I shall be mightily cross if I cannot get any though! Although hubbys car is relatively full so not really a necessity.
