clocker
« on: May 12, 2009, 15:51 »
Hi guys

Some of you may have read that I resuced a clocker (hen) and 7 duckings on saturday.  The ducks I would say are about 2 weeks old at present.

My question is how old should the ducks be before I remove the clocker, and is it possible to set the clocker away on more eggs straight way or is it not that easy?

I understand that they all gradually go their own way as they get bigger. Once they don't need her for warmth they will be fine. Mine weren't without warmth (in my case being inside) at night till 5 weeks old. She will make her mind up when she is ready to go broody again and then you're ready to go.
Be like a duck. Calm on the surface but always paddling like the dickens underneath.

TBH I wouldn't let her go broody for a while as it takes a lot out of a hen and I am sure she would appreciate a rest! :D
