. . . You could strike sparks anywhere. There was a fantastic universal sense that whatever we were doing was right, that we were winning. . . .

At last, the first of my outdoor "free-range" Sungold are starting to become ripe! Just need some sunshine now as there are so many still to ripen.

What a great result ! Marvellous!

We're also trying 'Country Taste' this year, and while the trusses are not that large, the toms really are superb!

Fabulous time isn't it! They look huge, want to be used and just jump out and grab you...

(sigh)...

Got some lovely tomatoes this year and if we do not eat them they go to waste :(  because everybody keeps a veg garden here. So we have been having very simple tomato salads with dinner when possible. Recipe two large ripe tomatoes , I been using St Pierre, washed and cut into large chunks some very finely slice Trebons onion, salt , pepper maybe a bit of vinaigrette and crusty bread... Heaven ! Having a chilli for dinner tonight but this salad is going along side.

What a shame to waste them can you freeze them or turn them in to sauce & bottle them?

Oh yes we make many litres of pasatta from them but even then some still go to waste. I suppose I could plant less plants but then if there is a problem I will struggle to meet my bottling target for winter use this year I did cut back but still have around 35 plants.
