Peppers ripening when still small
« on: August 11, 2010, 13:04 »
Hello
In need of help! I notice that my bell peppers are starting to turn red even if they are still about 2 inches big.. its not a small variety as the tag on it says that it grows til about 4-5 inches. anyone ever encountered this problem before?
thanks

Whereabouts do you live and are your peppers outdoors or indoors?

They normally do better inside than outside in an average summer, in my experience.
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older

I didn't say they couldn't be grown outside, it's just that they need everything going for them to do really well outside in the average British summer!

Tomato feed is fine as long as you don't overdo it; they are fulfilling their purpose in life without quite fulfilling your expectations because conditions aren't quite good enough for them to do that.

One of my pepper plants is doing exactly the same. Another variety, grown outside as well in the same type of soil is producing large sized peppers that are still green... But hey, I thought the risk with growing peppers outdoors was that they wouldn't ripen, so I'm not complaining.
