Hi there just wondering if its bad to break off little pieces of schell when a chick is being born just to help it out?

Yes it is very bad to be helping them out, too early and they could die. :(   You should be patient and let nature do its work, youve got it this far why not all the way??? Plz leave it and wait, it wont be long ok. If it comes out early it could have a number of defects and could be open to illnesses. Plz leave it and be patient... Plz!!!!! Let us know how it gets on ok :)

hi danielle, i know its sounds cruel but if the chick isnt strong enough to get out of its shell alone, then it probably won't survive. its all down to nature, and it can take a chick 24 hours from pipping to getting right out, so although it may seem like they are having trouble, it might just be taking its time.

i had 5 hatch this week and know just how hard the weight can be, you just want them out so you can see them, but it is worth the wait. good luck, and put some pictures up if you can.

the first one was born... I only chip a tiny piece of schell off because it was on top of its eye haha but i didnt really help it.. its popped out just fine and is now gaining strength.. i will post pics soon! the other one will be out by late afternoon probably!
