Age to add chicks to flock ?
« on: August 18, 2011, 07:58 »
Hi,

i know this question must be asked 100's of times but i guess every chicken keepers set up is different.

I have 4 hybrids at 23 weeks, im planning on adding 8 rir's, i've found a local breeder and have ordered the chicks.
As the chicks will outnumber the larger birds will this make any difference to how to introduce them ?
Also at how many weeks should i start to introduce them, as i said i've read a few posts on here but would like some more advice on it, I pick the chicks up in a weeks time (under a week old) but i do like to plan things out lol
Nothing like being prepared, look forward to your replies.

Paul

Ideally, the chicks should be of a similar size to the pullets to minimise bullying - so approxilately 12 weeks old :)
