New pest: 4 yr old son!
« on: April 14, 2010, 22:29 »
Aarrg!  Just got home from work to see the wife sheepishly waiting at the front door, apologising for leaving Master Kermit out in the garden unsupervised.  Turns out he was having a whale of a time digging the soil from my carefully prepared carrot containers and filling every other receptical he could find (bird baths, recycle bin, you name it).  Still, couldnt give him a row - he said he was 'growing daddys vegetables'  ::)

Particularly aggrieved as I was getting worried about lack of germination (sowed 3 weeks ago) but checked this morning on way out and saw some tiny seedlings appearing.  Give me carrot root fly any day ;)

Time to re-sow...

My 4 year old always like to dig and water the plants. he has his own spade and I will just mark a line (arbitrarily anywhere in the plot.. far from plants) and he will dig happily for some time. put all the earthworms he could find in a bucket and he pretends to make a soup   (dont know where he got that idea from)
One kid is handful. Two kids.... Example for chaos theory. Hats off to my mum who managed three...

Do you eat a lot of noodle soup?  ??? Or spaggetti?   Or is it a general comment on your cooking?  :D :D

give him an area, a spade & a bucket of water - did it for my 5 yr old son last year, he had hours of fun in his homemade swamp, found a couple of lost toys in it last week ,left over from last summer !

My 4 year old grandson and 9 year old grand-daughter have work to do!!! Hmm, a little early for the wee mite born this New Year's Day......      :nowink:
small, Welsh and almost certainly bonkers, but can be tamed with Talisker, if required

ah bless him.. they are always trying to help!

My 2 and a half year old was with me at the allotment for a while over the weekend. He kept tripping up and I was worried about all the canes so i started pulling them out.. I turned round and hes stood there trying to pull out a big thick post that was hammered into the ground.. Just trying to help daddy  :D

Im taking him this weekend and Im going to teach him to pick up the stones from the carrot beds ;)

Good idea with the 'kids corner'.  Of course, he couldnt just play in his lovely bespoke sandpit could he?!

He's got a few potato sacks on the go, but insisted (like last year) putting a few dinky cars in with the seed potatoes to grow more cars
